  5. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death.
  6. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation.
  7. God raised Jesus from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return.
  8. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts.
  9. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.

WHY IS BIBLE TRUTH SO IMPORTANT?

Bible Truth

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE TRUTH

Is Bible Truth important to your Faith and Salvation ie. will you be saved despite what you believe the bible teaches or does it matter what you believe?

Well the word “truth” appears 237 times in the bible, that alone says it must be important!

Therefore it must be important to understand what “truth” is.

A quick scan of the passages using this word “truth” leave us in no doubt that it is not only important, but vital to our salvation.

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20

20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

3For thisis good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Clearly then knowing what is Bible Truth is important and vital, in addition to this we are also warned that some would depart from the “truth”…

1 Timothy 4:1

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 John 4:6

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

From these passages it is very clear that we need to know the “truth” about God and His Son as it is taught to us in the Bible.  This means we must learn what this is from the Bible itself.

Don't let your HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL rest with someone else eg. your pastor or minister, YOU owe it to yourself and your family to be fully convinced of what it is you believe to be sure it HOLDS something REAL for you.

We have all been warned by God that there would be many false teachers and Jesus himself has told us that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."  See Matthew 7:14

Sadly when Christ returns to this earth, many will only then realise that they have believed in lies Jeremiah 16:19

"19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

Don't let this be you or your family!

The Bible is our only true source for the Truth!

If we claim to follow Christ we should trust in the Scriptures as confidently as Jesus and his Apostles did:

Jesus said that: The Scripture cannot be broken.  (John 10:35)

Paul said that: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Peter said that: For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21)

The things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven (1 Peter 1:12)

The OFFER of LIFE or DEATH

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Bible Is Our ONLY Guide

The Holy BibleThe Bible provides us with plain Scriptural Teaching for the True Followers of Christ

The statements on this guide represent what we believe is true Bible teaching. The statements are deliberately challenging, asking every reader to compare his own opinions with the plain teaching of Scripture, examining carefully the Bible passages offered as proof. If, as a result, a change of mind and heart is called for, there will be no doubt that the teaching of the Lord, and the book he trusted, must be followed and not what the churches teach.

All Scripture quotations are taken from the New King James (also known as the Revised Authorized) Version of the Bible.

JESUS CHRIST – God’s Greatest Gift to US!

New Testament Teaching

Let us begin by stating the obvious. Only in the New Testament do we read of Jesus as someone who is alive and taking part in the affairs of human beings living on the earth. And, equally importantly, it is only in the New Testament that we read about the God of heaven being described over and over again as “Father”, a term which is extremely rare in the Old Testament Scriptures.John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotton Son..."

That does not mean that there is no mention of Jesus in the Old Testament. As the coming Jewish Messiah, much is made of the fact that God would send a Saviour and Deliverer. But the Jewish Scriptures only speak of Jesus in the sense of looking forward to his Coming.

He is not spoken of as already existing, but as someone who would exist one day, when the time was right. Let us look at this more closely.

From the time when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden through to the end of the Old Testament there are repeated prophecies about the future coming of Jesus. Here are some of them.

Old Testament Prophecies

In the Garden of Eden a ‘Seed' – a descendant of Eve – was promised, who would overcome sin and reverse the problem introduced into the world by Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God.

“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15 ).

In Psalm 22, David wrote about Jesus, using many phrases that pointed forward quite explicitly to the crucifixion. For example “they pierced my hands and my feet” and “They parted my garments among them”.

Once the prophet Isaiah met wicked King Ahaz and made one of the most famous prophecies of the Old Testament. He said that a virgin would one day bear a son:

”Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14 ).

The prophet Micah predicted that a ruler would come from the town of Bethlehem to reign over the people of Israel , adding something of much interest to our theme.

“You, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2). This ruler, he says, has been planned from the beginning of time. We will come back to this point later.

Zechariah predicts the entry into Jerusalem by Jesus, an event that occurred just before Jesus was crucified just outside that very city. He too speaks of Jesus as a king but we know from the events themselves that this prophecy is fulfilled when Jesus is about to suffer his greatest trial (see Zechariah 9:9 and Matthew 21:4-5).

None of the men who wrote these things met Jesus. They did not hear his voice; they did not see him crucified; they do not claim that he existed in their time. They all expected him to appear in the future, at a time to be decided by God himself.

Mortality of Jesus

There is an even more important reason for limiting the existence of Jesus to New Testament times. It has to do with the fact that Jesus came into this world to bring salvation to all people. They had become a mortal race because Adam and Eve disobeyed God and the removal of the curse could only be done if another human being could obey Him perfectly. Jesus came to do this.

NO MORE DEATH

Death is the greatest enemy of all: one from which nobody can escape. Throughout history there has been no escape from death. We cannot live forever as things stand.Arlington Memorial Day

Death Sentence

The first death sentence was passed by God on the first man Adam, after his sin in the Garden of Eden. But the more you think about it, you might decide that death is not really such a bad thing! It means that evil people do not live forever. True, it also means that good people die as well – but you can’t have it both ways. You really wouldn’t want the Hitler’s of this life to be around still, wreaking havoc on Jews and gypsies, would you?

Our limited life span also means that whoever we are, we have to make the best use of our time here, and as the Bible says, to “Teach us to number our days, that we might apply our hearts to wisdom” (Psalm 90:12) ie. what is life really about and how can we make the most of this short life we are given?

What Is Death?

Death is the opposite of life. The first man was created by God. He was perfectly formed, but was not breathing for he was lifeless.

Old Church GraveyardThe Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (Genesis 2:7).

At death the exact opposite happens. Our breath comes out of us for the last time, and the body becomes lifeless. The dead body returns to the earth, and reverts to the same dust from which Adam was made. The Bible explains that death is a sleep. Just as we didn’t know that we were asleep last night in bed, so the dead do not know they are dead:

For in death there is no remembrance of You; in the grave who will give You thanks? (Psalm 6:5).

For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun (Ecclesiastes 9:5–6).

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

A World at PeaceWorld Peace

For lo, the days are hastening on by Prophet bards foretold When with the ever-circling years, Comes round the age of gold; When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendours fling, And all the world give back the song Which now the angels sing.

This verse is part of a Christmas carol and Christmas is a time when most people are full of good wishes and nice feelings. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if this carol came true; literally true? Wouldn’t it be amazingly wonderful to live in a world which is genuinely at peace! Men and women at peace with one another the whole world over! And people at peace within their own hearts and minds and, most importantly, at peace with God himself!

Is this just a pipe dream? Is it really a fanciful, idealistic notion which will never happen?

It is not!

God’s Great Plan

What we should really understand is that God is involved and will ultimately make it happen. He has already intervened in human affairs several times in order to move on His plan and to engage with us – so that we willingly become involved in working towards establishing His peace on the earth.

There was a major step forward 2000 years ago when God sent his Son into the world to make the clearest statement yet that He wishes all mankind to join Him in this master project to bring “peace on earth”.

Jesus Christ the Son of God

Jesus Christ the Son of God

THE ORIGIN OF THE SON

How Jesus came to exist is explained in simple terms in the Gospel of Luke. To Mary, a God-fearing virgin in Israel, herself a descendant of David the King, there appeared an angel with a very remarkable message:

“Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee … Thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus (Saviour). He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David … and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”(Luke 1:28-33)

Let us pause for a moment to appreciate the shock of surprise and then exhilaration that these words would provoke in her. She knew quite well the promise made to David over 900 years before. A descendant (son) of David would be the means of restoring the glory of the kingdom of Israel, and of reconciling Israel to God. This was the long expected Messiah, and she was actually to be his mother. Her child was to reign on David’s throne!

But then – perplexity. Although Mary was betrothed to a God-fearing Israelite named Joseph, they were not yet married, and there could be no question of a child being born until they were. How then, Mary asks the angel, can this promise come to pass? The angel is quite explicit in his reply:

“The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”(verse 35)

To complete the picture, Matthew’s Gospel gives us the matter as it appeared to Joseph, her future husband. Before they were married, Mary “was found with child of the Holy Spirit”. Joseph would have been fully justified in repudiating his undertaking to marry her. But an angel had a message for him from God:

“Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20,21, RV)

From this Joseph would understand that this child was to be the Messiah. The whole episode is concluded by Matthew’s statement:

“All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying (he quotes Isaiah’s prophecy uttered 700 years before): Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”(verses 22,23)

These divine statements to Mary and Joseph contained the most momentous news. A child with a great destiny was to be born, for he would not only reign on David’s throne for ever, but he would also “save his people from their sins”. But the child’s origin is clearly stressed. Mary is to be the mother, but Joseph is not to be the father. The child will be conceived because “the power of the Highest”, “the Holy Spirit”, will operate upon Mary to bring the marvel to pass. And so “a virgin shall conceive” and her son shall be called “the Son of God”. This is the clear Bible teaching of the Virgin Birth of Christ.

JESUS CHRIST - SON OF MAN

There is reluctance sometimes to accept the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, was fully a member of the human race. Some feel that to think of him as sharing our nature with all its weakness is to degrade him, and to throw doubt on his sinlessness.

Here again we must turn to the evidence of the Bible. We have seen already the clear record of his origin and his birth: Son of God, but also son of Mary. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Galatians, puts it thus:

“When the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”(4:4, RV)

Jesus Did Not Pre-Exist

"This is life eternal to know Thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent" -- John 17:3.

Who Is Jesus Christ?

We state this question in the present tense, because though Jesus Christ was crucified 1,900 years ago at the agitation of a Jewish mob and maladministration of Gentile power, he lives today.Jesus did not PRE-EXIST

And the fact that he lives is of the greatest significance to mankind.

Paul, the one time inveterate opponent of Christianity, who was converted into its greatest advocate by the incontestable evidence of the Lord's resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:10), explained it thus:

"God hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised him from the dead"(Acts 17:31).

To judge the world is to rule it. Paul thus taught that the living Christ is the assurance of God that He will send Jesus Christ to set up his Kingdom on earth (Acts 1:11; 3:19-20). Christ is coming to change present conditions, and to reign as king.

Confusion Concerning Christ

But who is Jesus Christ? Eternal life is bound up in the answer to this question, as the quotation at the head of this article shows. Put the question to Jews, and they reply that he was the son of Joseph and Mary, and that he lived and died in Judea 1900 years ago. Ask it of most clergymen, and they will state that he is the second person of a triune God. Others, whilst rejecting the Trinitarian concept as unscriptural and illogical, teach that he pre-existed. Thus endless controversy has continued; even those who admit that he lives, violently disagree as to who he is.

We can ignore the Jewish answer. The disciples were not liars, fools, mystics or charlatans. They comprised practical fishermen like Peter, hard-headed businessmen like Matthew, even skeptics like Thomas. Such men were not prepared to be misled by a rumour, but demanded concrete proof of the resurrection of Christ (John 20:24-29). We believe them, and reject the unbelieving attitude of Jews and atheists.

We not only set aside the skeptical attitude of Jews and atheists; but we also repudiate the doctrine of the Trinity. The concept of three Gods who are but one God is illogical and unscriptural. The word "Trinity" is not found in the Bible, but is a title manufactured to serve the cause of theology. On the other hand, the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is subordinate to God, thus:

"There is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the MAN Christ Jesus"(1 Timothy  2:5).

"One God, the Father . . . and one Lord, Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 8:6).

"When all things shall be subdued unto him (i.e. Jesus Christ),then shall the Son also be subject unto Him (i.e. God)that put all things under him, that God may be all in all" (1 Corinthians  15:28).

Did Jesus Pre-exist?

Although such a question, if asked of any other person, would be treated with the ridicule it deserves, it is seriously alleged of the Lord.

Yet the Bible clearly shows that Jesus had no existence prior to his birth in Bethlehem, 1900 years ago. He was born of the virgin Mary, by the overshadowing power of God (Luke 1: 30-35), and thus was both son of God and son of man.

From his mother, he derived the nature common to all mankind, but from his Father he inherited latent spiritual proclivities that strengthened him to conquer the flesh, and manifest divine qualities (1 Timothy  3:16). He was executed as a criminal, but, in fact, never sinned, and therefore God's justice demanded his resurrection (Acts 2:24). He was raised to immortality, and ascended into heaven, where he awaits the time to return and set up his reign on earth (Acts 3:19-23; Daniel 2:44).

Nowhere is it suggested that he existed before his birth.

Take, as example, the opening verse of the New Testament:

"The genealogy of Jesus Christ the SON of David, the SON of Abraham".

If Jesus lived in some form before Abraham and David, he was not their son, and the statement is false.

We believe that the statement is true, and all Scripture agrees therewith. Consider the record of his early childhood:

"Jesus increased in wisdom, and stature, and in favour with God and man"(Luke 2:52).

How can these words possibly apply to a pre-existent angel, or the second person of a Triune God? Could such a one increase in wisdom and in favour with God? Assuming the impossible were true, and Jesus pre-existed as an angel, on what grounds could it be said that he increased in favour with God merely because in his new state he grew from a baby to a youth!

If Jesus pre-existed, he must have divested himself of all previous identity, lost all his former knowledge, power and standing with God, and had to establish this all again! What for? What did it accomplish? Is such belief logical? We shall show it is unscriptural!

Bible Teaching about Repentance

The worst sin ever committed was the rejection and crucifixion of Jesus − God’s own Son. Yet God wants to forgive even that, and Jesus himself prayed “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).

Israel: God’s VineyardIsrael is God's Vineyard

In a parable (a story with a spiritual meaning), Jesus foretold what was going to happen to the nation of Israel (Matthew 21:33-43). He compared God to a landowner who let a farm out to tenants (meaning the Jewish nation). It was harvest time, so he sent a succession of messengers (meaning the Prophets) to collect the rent (meaning obedience to His law), but the tenants rejected the messengers and killed some of them.

At last the Landowner sent his son (meaning Jesus), but they treated him even worse than the others and killed him too. As a result, said Jesus, the landowner “will destroy those wicked men miserably, and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will render to him the fruits in their seasons” (Matthew 21:41).

In case the hearers had not understood the teaching of the parable, this explanation was then given:

“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it” (21:43).

The Jewish nation, who had been God’s special nation, were in danger of losing their special position as the custodians of God’s Kingdom and the privilege would pass to all those people who were prepared to follow Jesus, whether they were Jews or not.

Just What Happened

The parable came true. The Jewish leaders handed Jesus over to the Romans and had him crucified.

Then about 40 years later the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and hundreds of thousands of Jews did indeed die ‘miserable deaths’.

Wonderfully, as God had promised in Psalm 16, Jesus did not remain in the grave. The power of God raised him to immortal life, and the people who had killed him were offered the hope of forgiveness. About six weeks after Jesus’ death, his apostle Peter appealed to a huge crowd of men and women in Jerusalem:

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.

That day about 3,000 people accepted Peter’s message, repented, were baptized, and were forgiven for their rejection of Jesus (Acts 2:36-38).

Is Satan a being who may be worshipped? The Pentagram and Ram's Head symbol of Satan Worship

Bible Truth About the Occult

  • A Source of Authority

  • Is there more than one Supreme Being?
  • A Warning against Involvement
  • The Origin of Evil?
  • Sin and Death
  • The Author of Evil

  • Did Jesus Believe in Supernatural Evil Spirits?
  • The Only Authority
  • Jesus - The Light of the World

THE question can be simply put. Should we believe in a supreme and all-powerful Being who is the essence of goodness - a God who is so interested and concerned for His creatures that He sent His Son to be the saviour of mankind; or should we place our trust in a supernatural power of wickedness and darkness - the basis of occult beliefs? Only one other possibility has ever been considered, and that has been a belief that man can determine his own destiny and solve the world's problems.

Despite the great strides made by mankind in the technical world - or perhaps even because of them - man's inability to solve the one problem that afflicts every human being has caused him to search elsewhere for answers. Man's great problem is his certain destiny. The great advances made in the last century and a half have shown that it is not just death that needs removing from the earth; the effects of mortality are equally serious. People are now living much longer than they used to. Yet who really wants to live an extra five or ten years if they bring no improved quality of life?

In years gone by religion would have given mankind the opportunity to discover satisfactory answers to this universal problem. But society today has relegated religion to a very low position. Religion is the butt of comedians' jokes, and religious leaders rarely comment on anything other than sociological issues. This situation has occurred for a number of reasons. Primarily it has come about because the authority of God's revelation of Himself and His purpose has been forsaken. Men have failed to denounce as "sin" behaviour which is contrary to His law. Self-indulgent thought has been elevated by the producers and consumers of technology, and religious principles are scorned. Unthinkingly, Karl Marx's comment about religion has been widely accepted; he called it "the opium of the people".

If religion has become a no-go area for many people, where else can they turn? Some deliberately push into the back of their minds the reality of life and its unanswered questions and make the desire for entertainment act as a buffer against searching enquiries about man's destiny. But the claims of believers in the occult have provided for others an outlet for their frustration. The purpose of this booklet is to examine these claims and to measure them against those made in the Bible. Are they serious claims, demanding careful attention? Or are they just another form of entertainment - a type of escapism where the need to go to extremes is like a drug addict requiring ever stronger and more frequent doses.

Gospel Message of the Bible

Christ teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God on EarthSummary of the Teaching of the Gospel or Good News of the Kingdom of God as taught by Christ.

This is God’s Purpose on this earth with many as will believe in Him.

The Gospel, as believed by all True Bible Followers of Christ, is listed herein in an orderly, systematic manner, with none of the beliefs contradicting any other belief. We believe this is as it should be, "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints" (I Corinthians 14:33).

  1. God's WORD, found in the Holy Bible, is the only source of information about our salvation.
    Hebrews 11:6, II Timothy 3:15-17, John 5:39, Romans 1:16
  2. God, our Heavenly Father, is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
    Acts 17:27,28, Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 42:5, Matthew 5:16, Matthew 6:9
  3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Saviour, our High Priest, our future Judge, and King.
    Matthew 3:17, John 3:16, Hebrews 4:14,15, Acts 10:42, II Timothy 4:8, Luke 1:30-35, John 18:37
  4. The Holy Spirit is God's Power.
    Psalm 104:30, Genesis 1:2, Luke 1:35
  5. The earth, and all life on it was created by God.
    1. From the beginning, God had a Plan and a Purpose for the earth. His Plan involved how He would accomplish His Purpose, which is for the earth to be filled with His Glory, and for obedient men and women to bear His nature, that of Immortality.
      Isaiah 45:18, Numbers 14:21, Isaiah 11:1-9, Habbakuk 2:14
    2. God's Plan was set in motion by the creation of the earth, which was accomplished by His angels, powered with the Holy Spirit. This creation took six days. At the end of the six days of creation, all creation was declared to be "very good". God rested on the seventh day.
      Genesis 1:1-31, Genesis 2:1-3
  6. God revealed His Plan to the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, along with instructions they were to follow. They were forbidden to eat of the "tree of knowledge of good and evil". They were told that if they ate of it, they would DIE.
    Genesis 1:27-30, Genesis 2:15
  7. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, believing the Serpent's Lie, "THOU SHALT NOT SURELY DIE".
    Genesis 2:16-17, Genesis 3:1-3
  8. Their disobedience was discovered, and they were informed of the consequences of their actions.
    Genesis 3:8-13
    1. The Serpent was cursed to be of the physical form he is today, and enmity, natural and spiritual, was established between man and the serpent. A future victory of the Seed of the Woman over the Seed of the Serpent was promised.
      Genesis 3:14-15
    2. Women were to experience sorrow in child-bearing, and be in subjection to her husband.
      Genesis 3:16
    3. The earth was cursed. Thorns and thistles were to mar the former beauty of the earth.
      Genesis 3:17-18
    4. Man was to earn his bread by the sweat of his brow. Adam was told "dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return". Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden of Eden to deny them access to the Tree of Life.
      Genesis 3:19,22-24
  9. The sentence, "dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return" resulted in Adam and Eve being estranged from God, and their condition being changed from "very good" to mortal. This mortal nature, along with the tendency to want to disobey God, has been inherited by all the descendants of Adam and Eve ever since.
    Job 14:1-4, Psalm 51:5
  10. Thus, the entire human race is condemned along with Adam and Eve. This condition is know as "Adamic Condemnation", and unless removed, will cause a person to eventually die, and remain in the grave forever.
    Romans 5:12,16-19, Ecclesiastes 3:18-22, Romans 8:1-2

What is meant by blessings and curses?

Blessings and Curses

Can blessings and curses be pronounced on people today?

To be blessed means 'to be favoured by God'. Blessings therefore are directly associated with God and come from God. To bless is to express the desire that the recipient of the blessing will experience the favour of God.

Cursing is the opposite of blessing, expressing the desire that the recipient of the curse will experience evils associated with the disfavour of God.

In the Bible, blessings and curses are related; the book of Deuteronomy prescribes that obedience to the Law of Moses would bring God's blessing on the nation of Israel. Conversely disobedience would bring God’s curse.

Both the blessings and the curses are written out so that Israel were left in no doubt as to the consequences of both obedience and disobedience.

Deuteronomy 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

In Deuteronomy 27 Moses gives the commandment that when they go into the land of Canaan the blessing and cursing are to be spelled out in a singular manner.

Deuteronomy 27:12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin: 13 And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

This is recorded as being done in Joshua 8:33-35.

The blessings and curses are detailed in Deuteronomy 27 and 28.

The history of Israel shows how accurately these blessings and curses have been, and are still being, fulfilled.

What we need to realise is that there is no supernatural power other than God. We cannot be blessed or cursed without it being in accordance with the will of God.

Proverbs 26:2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

A curse would not come on Israel unless they earned it by their behaviour. This becomes clear when Balak hires Balaam to curse Israel in Numbers 22 and 23.

Numbers 23:8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?

One of the most important blessings in the Old Testament is that given to Abraham.

Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Why God’s Coming Kingdom will be on Earth

God's Declared Purpose with the Earth

God’s declared purpose in the Bible has always been to do with the earth as the above passage from Numbers 14:21 shows.

Also we read this in Isaiah 45:18

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

Reasons Why the Gospel Encompasses a Literal Kingdom of God on Earth

One universal theme held by human beings is a desire for a golden age of peace, prosperity and happiness. This desire has been depicted in varying ways and has been called by various names: the Age of Aquarius, Xanadu, Shangri-la, Utopia, and the Millennial Reign of Christ. It is a dream that seems to arise from deep within the human psyche and may have been planted by the Almighty as a subconscious need in the very makeup of human beings; just like the human need to believe in something greater than ourselves.

However, for a believer in the Bible, there is only one form of this dream that reflects truth; the hope of the coming Kingdom of God on earth particularly as it will be manifested during the 1,000 year millennial reign of Christ.

In fact, the very gospel, which Paul in Romans 1:8 called "the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth", consists of belief in two primary things: These are described in the book of Acts, the book that details the evangelizing of the Roman world, the spreading of the gospel message to the Gentiles. In Acts 8:12, we read that what Philip the evangelist preached to the people of Samaria was "the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ." Likewise, in the last chapter of Acts, we read twice in this chapter of what Paul preached in Rome up to the time of his death. In v. 30, we read, " And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him."

In addition, it was the preaching about the kingdom of God that formed the focus of the ministry of Jesus. Time and time again we read that he came preaching the kingdom of God. Many of his parables were given to teach about that kingdom and the fact that he was its king. That is why he answered Pilate's question, "Art thou a king then?" by saying, "Thou sayest I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world...." (Jn 18:37).

THE OFFER OF LIFE OR DEATH

The Offer of Life or Death“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. For the Lord is your life…  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn awaytheir ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”    2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”   John 4:23-24

SEEK THE TRUTH WITH WRESTED SCRIPTURES!

Use this True Bible Teaching Resource to help understanding some of the more difficult passages that many take in isolation to the rest of the Bible and claim that they teach things that the Bible does not teach.

The Bible is a large book, but it teaches us the truth from beginning to end, therefore anything towards the end of the Bible eg. The New Testament must agree with what is taught in the Old Testament, also remember that the divisions of the Bible into Old and New Testaments is a manmade one, the whole Bible is God's WORD to us and must be undersood consistently as such.
