The earth, of all the planets in the solar system, is the one that is perfectly suited to all forms of life and the one that orbits at exactly the right distance from the sun to provide comfortable conditions for the human race.

  7. God raised Jesus from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return.
  8. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts.
  9. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

 

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

 

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

 

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

 

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

 

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

 

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

 

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

 

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

 

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

T-Rex Soft Tissue Disproves Evolution

Is there something wrong when a supposedly 70 million-year-old tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur is found with soft tissue—including blood vessels and even whole cells? This is what a U.S. researcher reported in late March.  Biologist Mary Schweitzer discovered this soft tissue when it was necessary to break a T. rex’s huge thigh bone.

Schweitzer said that the vessels were flexible and some could even be squeezed. After extensive testing, there was confirmation that this T. rex bone even had hemoglobin (red blood cells).

This discovery is unexplained by evolutionary thinking, which suggests that millions and millions of years have passed since this “King of Dinos” met its demise. Schweitzer is puzzled and cannot understand why this bone was not mineralized. “It’s very amazing. It’s utterly shocking, actually, because it flies in the face of everything we understand about how tissues and cells degrade,” she said on MSNBC.

In 1995, Joe Taylor, a professional dinosaur excavator and a biblical creationist, was curious about the hip girdle of another T. rex that was found in 1916. It was found in the same Hell Creek Formation where Schweitzer’s T. rex bone was found. Taylor was amazed that this 65 million-year-old specimen still had the appearance of skin on the sacral vertebrae. He sent a sample to Azusa Pacific College in California and had it scanned with an electron microscope by Professor Mark Armitage, who found that the bone had collagen filaments intact inside the bone. The presence of collagen suggests that this supposedly 65 million year old fossil was not completely fossilized. Armitage states, “It can’t be but a few thousand years old.”

So the Theory of Evolution is just that ‘A Theory’ that has never been proved and evidence like this says it can’t be and isn’t true.

The Return of Christ: Basic Teaching of the Bible

The personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory, to take up his great authority, and reign on earth as king, is a basic doctrine of the Bible. Hundreds of references to it are made therein and these are set forth in clear language, the meaning of which should be beyond dispute.

Consider the following predictions:

"This same Jesus, which is taken up from you (Apostles) into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11).

"Times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and He shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you; whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:19-21).

"God hath appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man (Christ) whom He hath ordained: whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised him from the dead" (Acts 17:31).

"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order; Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming" (1 Corinthians 15:19-23).

The teaching of the second coming of Christ permits believers to look beyond the troubles of today, to a glorious future when the evils and frustrations of the present will be replaced by a righteous administration that will bring "glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men."

A REMARKABLE BOOK WRITTEN IN 1854

No! that’s not the front page headline from one of London’s tabloid newspapers announcing  the Russian invasion of Georgia—or even recording Europe’s dependence on much of its oil and gas supplies!

In fact, it was the sub-title of a book written in 1854 by a Doctor of Medicine, John Thomas.

Because it looked forward to events in the Middle East prior to Christ’s return, it was called

“Anatolia”—a word of Greek origin relating to the rising of the sun in the east.

Following the publication in 1848 of his earlier book, Elpis Israel, the third section of which focused attention on Bible prophecy concerning developments which would occur in Britain, Europe and Russia and their relationship to coming developments in the Middle East, he made an extended tour of Western Europe (what is now Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands) seeing for himself what was going on there.1

Following the great year of revolutions throughout Europe in 1848, it was clear from both his own experience and from his studies of the prophet Daniel and other Old and New Testament prophecies that, prior to the return of Christ, great changes would occur in Europe, and that Russia, away on the far horizon, would develop into a major end-time power.

So John Thomas summarised what he had learnt on the title page of his book, listing not only the great events which Daniel had led him to expect, but also setting down an outline sequence of those events. All this, he recognised, was “an exhibition of startling proportions very much at variance with... the suppositions of the most enlightened politicians” of his day. His book was, as he explained, “An exposition of Daniel from alpha to omega with so much of the testimonies of other prophets as is necessary for its comprehension.

1854: The Crimean War in Southern Russia

The timing of its publication was significant. Following the 900-year old dispute between the Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox churches over rival claims to care for the Holy Places in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, the Russian Emperor Nicholas—who had been sent a copy of the book—and who was no doubt greatly influenced by the patriarch to move back towards Constantinople—from which the earlier “Caesars” of the former Eastern Byzantine Empire had been expelled in 1453—only to become the “Czars” of Russia. This, however, was only one of several such attempts made by Russian Czars to move southwards. The impending collapse of the Ottoman Empire—dubbed by Czar Nicholas I as “the Sick man of Europe” led to further Russian adventures in the late 19th Century. Indeed the results of both world wars led to further aggrandisement of the “Russian Empire.”

So thus began the Crimean War in 1854, a move which caused strategic alarm to both France and Britain who were most anxious to protect their political ambitions in the Middle East. That very year the French had secured permission from the Egyptian Pasha to construct the Suez Canal. Britain, with her mighty imperial interests in raw material supplies from the Indian sub-continent, had more than a passing interest in this development, as we shall see.

CONVINCING PROOF THAT GOD EXISTS

The Bible is a most remarkable book. Its account of the origin of evil; its unparalleled record of God'sConvincing Proof That God Exists dealings with the nation of Israel; its searching message through their prophets; its "good news" proclaimed by Jesus Christ and his apostles; above all, its unerring analysis of the weaknesses of human nature and its contrasting portrayal of the holiness, the truth and the mercy of God, made especially plain in the person of His Son - all these are outstanding features found in no other book in the world. They prompted Henry Rogers over l00 years ago to declare: "The Bible is not such a book as man would have written if he could, nor could have written if he would."( In The Superhuman Origin of the Bible Deduced from Itself.) In other words, God is needed to explain its existence.

In this short work we shall consider one of the Bible's unique features: its prophecy. Now strictly prophecy is not just foretelling the future. A prophet was one who "spoke for" another, a spokesman; and prophecy was the message the prophet spoke on behalf of God. But since Bible prophecy contains quite a lot of "prediction", or foretelling future events, for our purpose here we shall take the term in that sense.

Who has the Power of Prophecy?

But first we must settle an important question: Does the Bible claim that the power of prophecy belongs only to God and is a proof of His authority?

To this there is a decisive answer in the prophecy of Isaiah. In the 41st chapter God challenges the idols and the idol worshippers of the day to prove that they possess divine powers. This is how He does it:

"Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob, Let them (the idols) bring them, (the reasons) forth, and declare unto us what shall happen: declare ye the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; and shew us things to come ..." (vv.21-22,R.V.).

The basis of this challenge is clear: the pagan worshippers claim that their idols are gods. Very well; let them produce the proofs. And the proofs demanded by God Himself are that the idols shall announce future events, and also declare "the former things", that is, explain how creation took place in the beginning. The point is made crystal clear in the next verse:

"Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods ..." (v.23).

Here God Himself is asserting that to be able to foretell the future would be a proof of Divine power. More than once in this part of Isaiah's prophecy, God declares that He is the only one who has this power, for only He is God; there is no other:

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God , and there is none like me ..." (46:9)

The God of Israel is here declaring that there is no other worthy object of worship but Himself; and goes on to assert the signs of His power in these terms:

". . . declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure" (46:10).

Come to think of it, whoever would dare to say, "My counsel shall stand . . ."except God? What man is there in the whole world who could say any such thing? To carry it out needs Someone who not only knows future events before they happen, but has the power to see that they take place as He has decreed. In other words, to utter prophecy which will inevitably come true, you need God. No other cause can explain it.

JERUSALEM ‑ FUTURE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem thou that killest the prophets and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings and ye would not! BEHOLD YOUR HOUSE IS LEFT UNTO YOU DESOLATE."Such was Christ's lamentation for the city and inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The Lord Jesus Christ spoke these words just prior to his Olivet prophecy, which prophesied the final end for Jerusalem and its inhabitants, as divine punishment for rejecting and crucifying the only beloved son of God.

Luke 21:20‑24

"20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter there into. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

Forty years after these words were spoken and Christ had been crucified, these words commenced to have their fulfilment.

A great national disaster was to fall upon the Jewish people.

The armies of Rome invaded Judea and destroyed the Jewish state.

In A.D.70 in one of the most terrible sieges ever endured by a city, a Holocaust of horror that has rarely been exceeded in world history, Jerusalem was besieged for more than 3 yrs during which time its inhabitants were reduced to cannibalism.

Finally with its great walls breached, and its buildings destroyed, the Roman soldiers, incensed with rage at the long and costly siege, plundered the city, massacring the remaining survivors.

The Temple of God in which the Lord Jesus Christ himself had worshipped was put to the flame, and then pulled down stone by stone, just as Christ had predicted.

Yet an even greater Temple of God shall be built on this very place some time in the near future...

The Middle East and Bible Prophecy

The Middle East Conflict

THE Middle East is the most keenly watched area of the world. And little wonder; it is central to the economic stability of the world. Conflicts in the Middle East inevitably draw in the major powers and for many years it has been the most likely place for World War Ill to begin.  This explains the urgency for lasting peace treaties and long-term security arrangements.

Why The Middle East?

When we ask why the Middle East should be so important we have only to consider one word-oil. The world's economies are dependent upon Middle East oil.  After the Yom Kippur war in 1 973 the Arabs used the oil weapon to devastating effect.  The price of oil was raised and supplies were cut. The following ten years are known as 'the oil decade'.  Western economies were severely disrupted, suffering the crippling burdens of inflation, recession and unemployment.  Developing countries spurred on by the high price of oil sought to exploit their own natural resources and borrowed heavily from western banks.  The fall in oil prices in the 80s bankrupted these countries who now cannot repay the interest on the loans let alone the loans themselves. The consequence is that all nations, strong and weak, have been drawn closer into the politics of the Middle East.

But the Middle East has only relatively recently been so important.  The recent history of the area can be divided into three phases:

Phase 1:The first phase began in the last century when Britain, France and Russia developed their imperialist ambitions.  Whoever controlled the Middle East controlled the trade routes to India. What became known as the 'Eastern Question' was the policy of Britain to prop up Turkey as a buffer against Russian ambitions to obtain a Mediterranean seaport.  The First World War saw the end of this phase with Britain and France replacing Turkey as protectors of Palestine, Arabia, Mesopotamia and Syria.

Phase 2:The second phase occupied the period between World War I and World War II.  To understand what happened then we need to recognize the new force which emerged towards the end of the 19th century-Zionism, the movement to create a homeland for the Jews in Palestine.  In 1917 the British Foreign Secretary announced what was known as the Balfour Declaration which committed the British Government to support the idea of a national home for the Jews in Palestine.  Part of the letter is reproduced below:

Foreign Office,

November 2nd, 1917

Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in Conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty's Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet.

"His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

I should be grateful if you would bring this declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation.

The "Balfour Declaration"

The Declaration went on to say that nothing should be done to infringe the rights of the Palestinians.  Yet ancient conflicts reawakened as Arab as well as Jewish nationalism grew.

Phase 3:The League of Nations after the First World War gave Britain the Mandate over Palestine which she held until 1948.  In 1948 Israel declared itself an independent State, and was formally recognized by the United Nations.  So began the third phase of Middle East politics and the bitter conflicts which have continued ever since.

But Who could Have Foreseen . . .?

Looking back over this history it is easy to identify the factors which led to the present situation.  But in the last century who could have predicted that out of the conflicting ambitions of the World powers would come the State of Israel-the most troubled and potentially explosive place on earth?  One noted historian wrote in 1980:

"A century ago geo-politicians could have foreseen the continued colonization by Russia and the United States of the empty lands to the East and West; but who could have foreseen that far more astounding colonization in the eastern Mediterranean, the creation of the State of Israel? We may like it or not . . . we may deplore it as the last western crusade, the latest venture of western imperialism, seeking not trade but settlement . . . but we cannot deny that it is an extraordinary historical achievement.  How little the British who listened to its early advocates foresaw the present consequences" (Hugh Trevor-Roper, History and Imagination)

Readers may be surprised to learn that Bible students did dare to predict what would happen-and got it right.  Take the following example written by a Christadelphian in 1848, long before Zionism was born:

"The restoration of Israel is a most important feature in the divine economy. It is indispensable to the setting up of the kingdom of God . . . the restoration of the Jews is a work of time, and will require between 50 and 60 years to accomplish . . . there are two stages in the restoration of the Jews, the first is before the battle of Armageddon; and the second after it . . . the pre-adventual colonization of Palestine (i.e. the settlement of the Land before the return of Christ) will be on purely political principles; and the Jewish colonists will return in unbelief of the Messiahship of Jesus."

The writer, Dr. John Thomas, was not a prophet; simply an ardent student and believer of Bible prophecy.  But how could a Bible student be so confident that the land, which was for centuries a wilderness of little consequence, would become the most important place on earth?  The following is intended to answer that question and to show how the Bible maps out world events in advance, so that men and women may understand that God is controlling affairs according to a pre-determined plan.

God is in CONTROL of this WORLD

God Rules in the Kingdom of MenIn this article about Bible prophecy, John Shepley explains that God is in control of the world and has a glorious plan for its future.

As this article unfolds he will consider what prophecy is and look at some of the things it says about the Time of the End. Even though the immediate future for the world looks quite depressing, the good news is that there is a sure promise of a better time to come, when God’s kingdom is established here.

God in Control

One of the fallacies of human governments today is that they think they are in control. This, of course, is brought about by humanistic thinking that man is the master of his own destiny. Even though the problems which confront civilization today seem insurmountable, man is confident in his own ability to solve them and bring about a better world.

The Bible, however, gives us a different and more realistic perspective. It shows us that God is in control and that events in the world are unfolding according to His predetermined plan.

At a time of national unrest when the future of the nation of Judah seemed to be in the balance, the prophet Isaiah gave this word from God:

God is in Control“Remember this, and show yourselves men; recall to mind, O you transgressors. Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,’ Calling a bird of prey from the east, the man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it” (Isaiah 46:8–11)

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10–11).

Although these words were spoken specifically about ancient kings – of Assyria, Babylon and Persia – who went about trying to accomplish their own desires, they give us a timeless insight into the fact that it is God who is really in control.

Israel - A Nation Reborn

About the time the writing of the Bible was completed, the Jews and their land had been separated. Just as the prophets of God had warned, they were scattered throughout the nations.

That’s why you’ll find Abrahams, Isaacs and Jacobs in most telephone directories – they are  descendants of people who once lived in the land of Israel.  For nearly 2000 years the Jewish people, who remained distinct and different wherever they lived, had no land they could call “home”.  But that was about to change.  For the very prophets who had predicted their dispersion also foretold their regathering, and there was more to it than that.  The prophets said that the scattered Jewish people would return to their land so that their long-awaited Messiah could come to rescue them and to save the world.  That was something faithful Jews have been awaiting for generations – a Messiah or Saviour who would come to deliver them.  But he has to come to Israel at a time when there are Jews in Jerusalem if the prophecies are to be properly fulfilled.  The trouble was that for over 1900 years there was no Jewish nation to save and there were hardly any Jews living in or near Jerusalem.

No Jewish nation – no Messiah!

All Change!

David ben GurionEverything changed in 1947 when the United Nations voted to partition Palestine and to create Jewish and Arab states. In May 1948 Israel was declared an independent state.  David ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister, referred to the circumstances that had led up to the decision of the United Nations:

 

  1. The Land of Israel, he said, was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious and political identity was shaped.  Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance and gave to the world the eternal Book of Books.
  2. Their history of dispersion, though, he said, they never ceased to pray and hope for their return to it and for the restoration of their political freedom.
  3. Their attempts to resettle, the support they had already received, and now their acceptance by the United Nations among the nations of the world.
  4. The catastrophe which had recently befallen them – the massacre of millions of Jews in Europe – which clearly demonstrated the urgency of solving the problem of Jewish homelessness; Then he made this statement:
  5. I hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in the land of Israel to be known as the State of Israel … Israel will be open for Jewish immigration and for the ‘Ingathering of the Exiles’; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

World Events Herald Christ's RETURN

The Bible is a most remarkable book. Its account of the origin of evil; its unparalleled record of God's dealings with the nation of Israel; its searching message through their prophets; its "good news" proclaimed by Jesus Christ and his apostles; above all, its unerring analysis of the weaknesses of human nature and its contrasting portrayal of the holiness, the truth and the mercy of God, made especially plain in the person of His Son - all these are outstanding features found in no other book in the world. They prompted Henry Rogers over l00 years ago to declare: "The Bible is not such a book as man would have written if he could, nor could have written if he would."( In The Superhuman Origin of the Bible Deduced from Itself.) In other words, God is needed to explain its existence.

In this short article we shall consider one of the Bible's unique features: its prophecy. Now strictly prophecy is not just foretelling the future. A prophet was one who "spoke for" another, a spokesman; and prophecy was the message the prophet spoke on behalf of God. But since Bible prophecy contains quite a lot of "prediction", or foretelling future events, for our purpose here we shall take the term in that sense.

Who has the Power of Prophecy?

But first we must settle an important question: Does the Bible claim that the power of prophecy belongs only to God and is a proof of His authority?

To this there is a decisive answer in the prophecy of Isaiah. In the 41st chapter God challenges the idols and the idol worshippers of the day to prove that they possess divine powers.

This is how He does it:

"Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons,

saith the King of Jacob, Let them (the idols) bring them, (the reasons)

forth, and declare unto us what shall happen: declare ye the former

things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter

end of them; and shew us things to come ..." (vv.21-22,R.V.).

The basis of this challenge is clear: the pagan worshippers claim that their idols are gods. Very well; let them produce the proofs. And the proofs demanded by God Himself are that the idols shall announce future events, and also declare "the former things", that is, explain how creation took place in the beginning. The point is made crystal clear in the next verse:

"Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that

ye are gods ..." (v.23).

Here God Himself is asserting that to be able to foretell the future would be a proof of Divine power. More than once in this part of Isaiah's prophecy, God declares that He is the only one who has this power, for only He is God; there is no other:

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none

else; I am God , and there is none like me ..." (46:9)

The God of Israel is here declaring that there is no other worthy object of worship but Himself; and goes on to assert the signs of His power in these terms:

". . . declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times

things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will

do all my pleasure" (46:10).

Come to think of it, whoever would dare to say, "My counsel shall stand . . ." -except God? What man is there in the whole world who could say any such thing? To carry it out needs Someone who not only knows future events before they happen, but has the power to see that they take place as He has decreed. In other words, to utter prophecy which will inevitably come true, you need God. No other cause can explain it.

The New Testament makes the same claim. When Jesus was about to leave his disciples, he promised them the help of the Holy Spirit in their task of preaching the Gospel in the world. One of the effects of this gift was to be: "He shall declare unto you the things that are to come" (John 16:13); in other words, the disciples were to be given a knowledge of future events. It is certainly implied that without the special gift they could not have done this. Their ability to declare the future was to be an evidence of the Divine power they had been granted.

Again, in the last book of the Bible, chapter 1, verse 1, it is declared that God gave to Jesus Christ a revelation, "to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly come to pass . . ." (Revelation 1:1) . The knowledge of the future came from God through Jesus; without that revelation, His servants could have known nothing of it.

The conclusion is clear: the Bible says quite definitely that the power to foretell the future belongs to God alone.

The Resurrection of Israel - The Second Exodus - the Millennium - "The End".

IN the previous chapters the reader has been conducted to the crisis that awaits the world at the conclusion of the time of the end. The two great powers of the day-namely, Gogue (the leader of Russia), the lord of the earth, and the Lion of Tarshish (Britain), the king of the sea, have been brought up in battle array in the region of the Dead Sea. This state of things will have been created by the angel of the sixth vial, whose province it is to gather the kings of the earth and of the whole habitable, with their armies, into the land of Israel, which is "the great winepress of the wrath of God (Rev 14:19,20) for a space of 200 miles. This will be brought about upon the same principles as the fulfilment of all other prophecies in ages past-namely, through the policy of "the powers that be," controlled by God. The insurrection of "the earth" in 1848 created a situation, in which the Roman question, the German question, and the Turco-Hungarian question, have become the elements of an inevitable war throughout Europe, which will terminate in the final destruction of the Austrian Empire and the Papacy, and the subjection of the Porte and the toe-kingdoms to the Autocrat.

But without some other element to complicate affairs, things might settle down into a mere substitution of one gigantic despotism for the many lesser ones that now exist. It is necessary, therefore, that some other ingredient be introduced into the mess, in order that the course of events may be directed into an eastern channel, by which the crisis may be transferred from Europe to the Holy Land. This political element is found in the commercial interests of Britain in India; in the importance of Syria, Palestine, and Egypt being in the possession of a friendly people to the preservation of those interests; and in the policy of colonizing Palestine with Jews, and so attaching them to the interests of the country by which they are protected. Thus the ascendancy of the Autocrat in Constantinople and the West, by the jeopardy in which it puts the commerce and dominion of the Lion-power, excites the British Government to the adoption of a policy which, in its application to emergencies as they arise, elaborates the restoration of the Jews, and the resuscitation of the East.

The restoration of Israel is a most important feature in the divine economy. It is indispensable to the setting up of the Kingdom of God; for they are the kingdom, having been constituted such by the covenant of Sinai, as it is written, "Ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation."  Israel began with a Promise(Exod. 19:6) The apostles understood this well enough, and so do all who understand the Gospel of the Kingdom. After his resurrection, Jesus conversed with them during forty days, "speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God." This was certainly long enough, under the instruction of such a teacher, to enable them to understand the subject well. It took possession of their minds and hearts, and created in them a desire for its immediate establishment. Hence, they put the question to him, saying, "Lord, wilt thou AT THIS TIME restore AGAIN the kingdom to Israel?" (Acts 1:3,6)

It is evident from this, that they regarded Israel as having once possessed the kingdom, and expected the same Israel to possess it again. No other meaning can be put upon their words: for to restore a thing "again" to a party implies that they had once possessed it before. When Israel had the kingdom, they were ruled by Israelites, and not by Gentiles, for a foreigner could hold no office under their law. This was not the case in the days of the apostles, for they were ruled by the Roman Senate, and kings of its appointment. But it will not be so when the kingdom is restored to them again. The horns of the Gentiles will then be cast out of the land, and they will be ruled by "Israelites indeed" who will have become Jews by adoption; for no Jews or Gentiles after the flesh can have any part in the government of Israel and the Israelitish empire, which will embrace all nations, unless their Jewish citizenship is based upon a higher principle than natural birth. The flesh constitutes a Jew a subject of the kingdom, but confers on him no right to sit and rule upon the thrones of the house of David. This is reserved for Christ and his apostles, who "shall sit upon twelve thrones of his glory"; and for all other Jews and Gentiles who shall have become "Jews inwardly," for whom the dorninion under the whole heaven is decreed in the benevolence of God.

There are several strange fancies in the world concerning the restoration of the Jews. Some deny it in toto, and yet impose upon themselves the imagination that they believe the gospel of the kingdom! If any such have followed me through this work, they will, I think, long since have concluded that they have been in error. Others advance a little further, and regard it as an "open question" -- a position that may be disputed, but for which more may be said than against it, but concerning which they are not able to decide. This is tantamount to saying that the gospel is an open question, and that they really cannot say whether the kingdom of God will have subjects or not. There are others who believe that Israel will certainly be restored, but they clog it with a condition which in effect makes its fulfilment impossible, or eternally remote. They tell us that they will not be restored until they are converted to Christianity!

By Christianity they mean the inanity preached from the "sacred desks" of the apostasy -- the pulpit-gospels of the day; "for," say they, "if they abide not in unbelief they shall be grafted into their own olive again." This is quite true; but the fallacy consists in construing this to mean that their restoration is predicated on their believing what the Gentiles teach. The Gentiles themselves are in unbelief. How, then, can they convert the Jews? "Because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou, Gentile, standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear: for if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee;" for "thou also shalt be cut off if thou continue not in his goodness" (Rom. 11:20-23). Both Jews and Gentiles are faithless in the gospel of the kingdom in the name of Jesus. The Jews believe one part of it, and the Gentiles another part of it, but even these several parts they adulterate with so many traditions, that neither Jews nor Gentiles believe anything as they ought. Therefore, as He broke off Israel by the instrumentality of the Romans, so He is now about to break off the Gentiles by the judgments soon to be poured out upon them.

The work of grafting Israel into their own olive belongs to God, who, as the scripture saith, "is able to graft them in again." No one, I presume, will dispute His ability. As I have shown elsewhere, He has assigned the work of restoration to the Lord Jesus, who will graft them in again upon a principle of faith. He will bring their unbelief to an end in a way peculiar to the emergency of the case. When the fulness of the Gentiles is come in, then Israel's blindness will be done away.

The restoration of the Jews is a work of time, and will require between fifty and sixty years to accomplish. When Gogue comes to be lord of Europe, like Pharaoh of old he will not permit Israel to remove themselves and their wealth beyond his reach. His dominion must, therefore, be broken before the north will obey the command to "give up," and the south to "keep not back"; and even then Israel must fight their way to Palestine as in the days of old.

The truth is, there are two stages in the restoration of the Jews, the first is before the battle of Armageddon; and the second, after it; but both pre-millennial. God has said, "I will save the tents of Judah first." This is the first stage of restoration. Jesus has already been "a stone of stumbling and rock of offence" to Judah and his companions for 40 years, that is from the day of Pentecost to the destruction of the temple, so that they need not to be subjected to a like process any more. But the word saith, "He shall be a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel" (Isaiah 8:14); now it is well known that this has not been fulfilled in relation to the ten tribes. They did not inhabit Canaan at the time Jesus sojourned and ministered there. The gospel of the kingdom has never been preached to them in his name; hence, they are only acquainted with him as they have heard of him by the report of Jesuits, and the priests of Gentile superstitions -- a report which is incapable of making men responsible for not believing.

Daniel 2 - The Authority of Bible Prophecy

Remarkably, Bible prophecy has foretold our future for 2,500 years and it reveals that the destiny of this world is something we have no control over at all. In fact, Bible prophecy is simply the mould into which history is poured.

The purpose of God, as far as the earth is concerned, is clearly revealed in a remarkable prophecy contained in Daniel chapter 2, which speaks not only of the destiny of the world, but also vindicates the authority of the Bible.

Daniel 2 speaks of a dreadful nightmare experienced by the most powerful monarch of the earth in those days, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, in the year 605 BC. Babylon was an immensely strong city which ruled over a great empire stretching from the Persian Gulf up through the Mesopotamian basin and down through Israel into Egypt.

Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, and had taken many Jews captive, including the a man named Daniel who was a member of the royal household of Judah in Israel. Daniel was also an exceptional prophet whom God used to convey many prophecies of future events to take place on the earth.
