God's Plan for You

God's Plan for this World and You

THE view of planet earth, seen from outer space, is very beautiful indeed. Confirmation of this has come from the astronauts who have gazed upon it. The earth is the fairest jewel in God's creation and it is the chosen place in the whole universe where He has promised to reveal His Kingdom in all its glory. That is why it is so beautiful.

The earth, of all the planets in the solar system, is the one that is perfectly suited to all forms of life and the one that orbits at exactly the right distance from the sun to provide comfortable conditions for the human race.

Are mainstream Christian teachings correct?

The true Gospel can suffer from preconceived ideas and misinterpretations.

Find out what the Bible is actually saying and where interpretation can go wrong.

You owe it to yourself and your family to be sure of what it is you believe, the Apostle Paul has told us to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling"  Philippians 2:12

What We Believe

True Bible Teaching fundamental beliefs are:

  1. The Bible is God's word and the only message from him. It is without error, except for copying and translation errors.
  2. There is only one God - the Father. The Holy Spirit is God's power.
  3. Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary.
  4. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead.
  5. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death.
  6. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation.
  7. God raised Jesus from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return.
  8. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts.
  9. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.

Bible Truth

Truth Seeker - True Bible Teaching

The Bible is our only true source for the Truth!

If we claim to follow Christ we should trust in the Scriptures as confidently as Jesus and his Apostles did:

Jesus said that: The Scripture cannot be broken.  (John 10:35)

Paul said that: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Peter said that: For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21)

The things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven (1 Peter 1:12)

True faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Dinosaur Problem

T Rex Tissue Stumps Evolutionists

T-Rex Soft Tissue Disproves Evolution

Clip from “T.R.U.T.H. About the Dinosaurs” DVD

Is there something wrong when a supposedly 70 million-year-old tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur is found with soft tissue—including blood vessels and even whole cells? This is what a U.S. researcher reported in late March.  Biologist Mary Schweitzer discovered this soft tissue when it was necessary to break a T. rex’s huge thigh bone.

Schweitzer said that the vessels were flexible and some could even be squeezed. After extensive testing, there was confirmation that this T. rex bone even had hemoglobin (red blood cells).

This discovery is unexplained by evolutionary thinking, which suggests that millions and millions of years have passed since this “King of Dinos” met its demise. Schweitzer is puzzled and cannot understand why this bone was not mineralized. “It’s very amazing. It’s utterly shocking, actually, because it flies in the face of everything we understand about how tissues and cells degrade,” she said on MSNBC.

“It’s very amazing. It’s utterly shocking, actually….”

—Dr. Mary Schweitzer

In 1995, Joe Taylor, a professional dinosaur excavator and a biblical creationist, was curious about the hip girdle of another T. rex that was found in 1916. It was found in the same Hell Creek Formation where Schweitzer’s T. rex bone was found. Taylor was amazed that this 65 million-year-old specimen still had the appearance of skin on the sacral vertebrae. He sent a sample to Azusa Pacific College in California and had it scanned with an electron microscope by Professor Mark Armitage, who found that the bone had collagen filaments intact inside the bone. The presence of collagen suggests that this supposedly 65 million year old fossil was not completely fossilized. Armitage states, “It can’t be but a few thousand years old.”

So the Theory of Evolution is just that ‘A Theory’ that has never been proved and evidence like this says it can’t be and isn’t true.

Bible Prophecy Provides Evidence That God Exists For All To SEE

Israel’s Enemies Exploit Every Opportunity

The recent horrific death of a Palestinian toddler, in an arson attack on his home, has brought the usual torrent of condemnation on Israel, and its government.  Of course, it’s not surprising that such a killing should be vigorously denounced; but why is it that Israel is the only country where the whole nation, or at least the government, is held accountable for every crime that occurs in its territory?

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign attempts to demonise Israel. The Boycott of Israeli Products attempts to domonise Israel

The death of a small child in such circumstances is truly dreadful, but to put it into context, this is only the third case where a child has been murdered by Jewish terrorists in the last 25 years [1]; and without exception, each case was received by Israel’s people and government with shock, horror and utter revulsion.

In contrast, the number of children murdered by Palestinian terrorists, in the same period, is 177 [1]; and in many cases, the murders brought celebrations in the streets, and the murderers were fated by Palestinian people and leaders alike, with roads, squares and parks named in their honour.

In fact the very village, currently under suspicion of harbouring the arsonists, Itamar, was itself the victim of the ghastly murder of five members of one family.  A column in the Washington Post, from the time, reported, under the heading

Palestinians celebrate and then reluctantly denounce Itamar murders

“It is hard to conceive of a more grisly murder. On shabbat, Palestinian terrorists broke into the home of residents of the West Bank town of Itamar and stabbed to death five members of the family, including a 3-month old baby. The initial reaction of Palestinians was grotesque, if not predictable. Ynet news reported, “Gaza residents from the southern city of Rafah hit the streets Saturday to celebrate the terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar where five family members were murdered in their sleep, including three children. Residents handed out candy and sweets, one resident saying the joy ‘is a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.’

The reaction of the Palestinian Authority was equally predictable. On Saturday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a “condemnation” that in essence blamed Israel for the attack…” [2]

And this is the justification given for all such crimes; Jewish settlers shouldn’t be there in the first place, and their theft of Palestinian land, and their suppression of Palestinian political rights, is the spring from which flows the bitter waters of tit-for-tat war.

But this narrative is based on fallacies and distortions.

After all, why shouldn’t Jews live in Judea & Samaria when they’ve been living there for thousands of years?  Just because the Jordanians illegally invaded the, so called, West Bank in 1948, and both ancient and modern Jewish communities were ethnically cleansed from the area, why does that mean that now, under “international law”, it’s illegal for Jews to live there?

Why are Jews, living in their ancient heartlands (where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob lived, where the judges and kings ruled, where the tabernacle was pitched and the temple built) an “obstacle to peace”, and yet Arabs living in “Israel proper” not “obstacles to peace”?  Why would a Palestinian state have to be Jew-free, while the Israeli state still has Arab citizens enjoying its privileges?

And if removing the Jewish towns and villages from the West Bank would bring peace why wasn’t there peace between 1948 and 1967, when no Jews were there?  And after the Six Day War, when Moshe Dayan made it absolutely clear that he was willing to negotiate the return of the West Bank to Jordan, in exchange for peace, why did the Arab League convene the Khartoum “Three ‘No’s” Conference, where the Arab nations agreed a resolution of “no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with Israel”? [4]

At the beginning of the June 1967 war, Israel pleaded with Jordan not become involved. Israel’s troops were under strict orders to use minimal force in self-defence only, and in the first hours mostly did not respond to light arms fire from Jordan’s army.  However, when Jordanian artillery opened up all along the front, and West Jerusalem came under heavy fire, Israel’s response began, and the “West Bank” was taken almost by accident as part of that defensive war.  Incidentally, international law explicitly allows for countries, under attack, to take and hold the aggressor’s territory (not that it belonged to Jordan in the first place) until the attacked nation’s sovereignty and geographical integrity is recognised and accepted by the antagonist.

Oil Prices and a Changing Middle East

Falling oil prices are having a profound impact on world politics and are reshaping the Middle East.

CNBC reported on July 31, 2015 that, "The price of oil could be stuck firmly at around $50 a barrel by 2020, a Goldman Sachs analyst told CNBC, raising new fears about the energy companies that have already started to cut costs, projects and jobs to cope with falling revenues.”

Falling Oil Prices are having a profound impact on the worldFalling Oil Prices are having a profound impact on world politics and are reshaping the Middle East.

The UK Telegraph reports today: "Another Dubai debt crunch is looming as oil slump hits Gulf. Persian Gulf emirate could suffer the most as falling oil prices hit economies across the Middle East”.

For decades the West was reliant on Middle East oil and the Gulf States could hold a gun to the head of the West as they did in 1973 during the Arab-Israeli war, by means of an oil embargo, in retaliation for the United States decision to re-supply the Israeli military. This has now dramatically changed.

Back in January of this year the Ynet News website in Israel, ran an opinion piece stating that “The Arab oil ear is over”. The piece begins, "The most dramatic news in 2014 almost went unnoticed: The United States lifted the restrictions on American oil exports, and as of the first day of the new year it has begun exporting oil to the world.

"No one believed this would happen so fast, but the US is already the world's biggest oil manufacturer, bigger than Saudi Arabia, thanks to the oil shale technology which "changed the world of energy."

The opinion piece has some very interesting projections.

"As the Gulf states are left with no money to spend and are experiencing internal shocks, the era of destructive Arab power is coming to an end; the Israeli mind and innovation era, on the other hand, is just beginning.

"This means that oil prices will continue to drop, as the US is already competing against other manufacturers. As a result, Russia will be crushed, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf states will fall flat on their face, the cartel will collapse, and all the dictatorships which were mainly based on oil – like Iran – will face a gloomy future.”

For decades oil has defined the Middle East. The West needed it and the Middle East provided it without much effort and became very rich in the process. Israel and Jordan were the only countries in the Middle East without oil. This of course has now changed. The Tamar and Leviathan gas fields discovered off Israel's coast are seen as an opportunity for Israel to become a major energy player in the Middle East.

While it may have been very nice for Israel to have the easy riches of oil like the Gulf States, it has probably been to Israel's benefit, as their economy is diversified and innovative in contrast to the undeveloped one horse economies of the other Middle East countries that have thrived off the riches of oil.

What about Russia? If they are “crushed” is not this the opposite of what we would expect from Bible Prophecy? The opinion piece continues:

"But as oil prices continue to drop, what will happen to Russia? The country is collapsing and could turn to a European war to save itself.”

The Eastern Tarshish Strengthens Ties with IsraelJoint Israel India Stamp marks 20yr Relationship

India and Israel have been strengthening ties, as foreseen by Bible prophecy students of years gone by.

The ancient nation of Tarshish is identified by scripture as being friendly to Israel in the time of the end. The Biblical text identifies both a western and an eastern Tarshish. India is identified with the East as is seen to be strengthening its ties with Israel after years of cold relations.

We have often spoken of the latter day Tarshish on the Bible in the News program, discussing the relationships between Britain, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel. The cause of our attention comes from passages such as Ezekiel 38:13 where there is a notable presence of the Tarshish powers, friendly to Israel in the time of the end:

“Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” (Ezekiel 38:13)

It is another subject, but Tarshish is identified with the ancient trade in tin and led identified by Ezekiel 37:12:

“Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.” (Ezekiel 27:12)

Tarshish is identified as a western lying nation because Tarshish is identified with the nation of Tyre on the coasts of Lebanon, and Jonah left from Joppa to take a ship to Tarshish heading west.

Ancient authorities such as Herodotus and Julius Caesar identify an island beyond the straights of Gibraltar and off the coast of Europe as being the source of tin. More current authorities such as Encyclopedia Britannica, and Barbara Tuchman in her book "The Bible and Sword" identify Britain as this ancient source. “Bronze Age Sea Traders” and  “The Merchants of Tarshish” for more on this).

The Eastern Tarshish

The people of Tarshish have roots that go way back in history. It is interesting that Herodotus, writing about 100 years after Ezekiel, identifies the Phoenicians (who are associated in the Bible with Tarshish), as originating from an Eastern direction, and migrating into the west via their naval prowess. Herodotus tells us:

These people originally came from the coasts of the Indian Ocean; and as soon as they penetrated into the Mediterranean and settled in that part of the country where they are today, they took to making long trading voyages. (Herodotus Histories, Book 1, page 1)

Solomon entered into a joint project with Hiram king of Tyre to built ships to go to Tarshish:

“And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth (Elat), on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom. And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon. And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.” (1 Kings 9:26–28)

Years later Jehoshaphat decided to follow Solomon’s example, he made an alliance with Ahaziah of Israel, however he failed in his exploits:

“And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly: And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Ezion-geber. Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.” (2 Chronicles 20:35–37)

Note where Jehoshaphat’s ships were destroyed, Ezion Geber. We are told this in the Kings record too:

“Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.” (1 Kings 22:48)

Both Solomon and Jehoshaphat’s navy’s were built in Elat, in on the northern tip of the Red sea and were destined for an eastern “Tarshish”.

Sexual Freedom and the War on Bible Morality

A UK judge rules against Ashers Bakery on refusal to bake a cake promoting gay marriage.

During the week of May 23rd 2015 a UK judge ruled that a Christian-run bakery discriminated against a gay customer by refusing to make a cake with a pro-gay marriage slogan.  Ashers Baking Company, based in County Antrim, was taken to court by gay rights activist Gareth Lee.

We read in Isaiah 5:20-21

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

And the Bible teaches that sexual immorality (whether fornication, adultery or homosexuality) is wrong; and rightly so, for the consequence of such behaviour is family breakdown with all its social ills; with children and the innocent party being the first to suffer.  And in the UK alone, hundreds of thousands of sexually transmitted infections occur each year – unnecessary cases which can ruin lives, including those not immediately responsible, such as the spouses of the unfaithful, unborn children and even the thousands of haemophiliacs who perished due to contaminated blood products, produced in the 1980s.

Asher Bakers

And yet modern western society is so obsessed with sex and with sexual freedom, that it is treated as a “right” and as a necessity of life, like having food to eat.  The freedom to fulfil one’s lusts outweighs all its evils and certainly is more important than allowing a poor and principled baker to make an honest living.

And it is a fundamental as that.  The Equality Commission were reported as suggesting that Ashers should close down if unwilling to conform.   Guesthouse owners have already been driven out of business, and out of home, by similar judgements – and employees in many fields, already have to choose between signing ethics policies, which are contrary to biblical teachings, and losing their jobs.

In politics, it is said, extreme right meets left – as a comparison of Stalin & Hitler soon demonstrates.  Likewise laws, in western countries, have become so permissive and so against discrimination, that they have become authoritarian and discriminatory.  In their rush to protect sexual freedom, they have become like the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages, who caused…

“…all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark…” (Revelations 13:16-17)

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21)

The UK election in the light of Bible prophecy

God's hand at work with Tarshish

Prime Minister David Cameron wins shock majority Vote in UK Elections

The UK election has happened. The Conservative Party has got in with a majority vote and David Cameron is back as UK Prime Minister - but where does this leave the UK? This week we take a look at this election result through the lens of Bible prophecy and note the signs of the soon return of Jesus Christ to the earth.

God is in control of human affairs

The Bible has much to say about human rulership of the earth. In this there is a very important principle  to consider, and that is that God is in control.

We read in Daniel: "the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” (Daniel 4:17).

This principle is picked up in Romans 13 where we read:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained (or set up) of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” Romans 13:1-2

So the political powers of men are in fact controlled by God. He sets them up, unbeknown to man. He allows them a certain level of temporal power to rule. For this reason all God fearing men and women should be "subject to principalities and powers” (Titus 3:1), or as we read in Peter "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake:” (1 Peter 2:13). Should these powers ask us to do something which is not in accordance with God’s principles though, as God is the higher authority in such matters, we would choose to follow Him after the examples of the apostles. In Acts 4:19, after being asked to act contrary to God’s ways, Peter and John say "Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye".

So we believe God has been in control of this recent election in the UK and this must not be lost sight of.

Who gets your vote?

The other wider question here is on whom do we, as individuals, trust to solve societies problems. "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish” says Psalms 146:3-4. In our humanist, postmodern and democratic age we should be very weary of men who have excluded God from their minds. Having no confidence in man we must put our confidence in God. As the proverb says: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

As “God”, or indeed a representative of God, is not on the election ballot, how could we vote for a man? If we knew which man God wished to put into power then this would be a different matter - but we do not. If we were to cast our vote, how would we know if we were, in fact, voting against God’s will? The whole human system is set up in a way a Bible believer must ultimately utterly reject. It is the way of the human herd, unmotivated by Gods word. We must be very careful not to be entangled with the “affairs of this life” but rather choose to be "strangers and pilgrims on the earth” (Hebrews 11:13), looking for the coming Kingdom of the age to come.

The nations in the "Latter Days"

However there is more of the Bible in this week’s election news which we want to briefly consider. In Ezekiel chapter 38 we have a prophecy about "the latter days" (see verses 8 and 16). We are told when this time period is within the chapter itself in verses 8 and 12 - a time period when Gods people of Israel have returned to their land after a long period of being scattered. So this chapter then is very relevant to us living today seeing that the Jews have, in only recent times, returned to their homeland. Israel as a state has only existed from 1948.

Iranian Nuclear Deal Helps Form Arab States into Biblical Alignment

Saudia Arabia and the other Arab states are responding to the Iranian deal with

The American-Iranian Nuclear deal has brought strong criticism from Israel and the Arab states. Israel sees it as a threat to its existence. One of the outcomes has been the development of closer ties between the Arab states, answering to the "Sheba and Dedan" of Ezekiel, and also the development of better relationships with Israel.

Headlines this week revolved around the historic agreement between the USA and Iran regarding the nuclear agreement.

President Obama proudly took the podium brag about his “peace in our time” nuclear agreement. Here are some of the excerpts of his deal:
President Obama

Today, the United States -- together with our allies and partners -- has reached a historic understanding with Iran, which, if fully implemented, will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon…. I am convinced that if this framework leads to a final, comprehensive deal, it will make our country, our allies, and our world safer.

Today, after many months of tough, principled diplomacy, we have achieved the framework for that deal. And it is a good deal, a deal that meets our core objectives. This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran will face strict limitations on its program, and Iran has also agreed to the most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated for any nuclear program in history. So this deal is not based on trust, it’s based on unprecedented verification.

Many key details will be finalized over the next three months, and nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed. But here are the basic outlines of the deal that we are working to finalize.

First, Iran will not be able to pursue a bomb using plutonium, because it will not develop weapons-grade plutonium. The core of its reactor at Arak will be dismantled and replaced. The spent fuel from that facility will be shipped out of Iran for the life of the reactor. Iran will not build a new heavy-water reactor. And Iran will not reprocess fuel from its existing reactors -- ever.

Second, this deal shuts down Iran’s path to a bomb using enriched uranium. Iran has agreed that its installed centrifuges will be reduced by two-thirds. Iran will no longer enrich uranium at its Fordow facility. Iran will not enrich uranium with its advanced centrifuges for at least the next 10 years. The vast majority of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will be neutralized….

Third, this deal provides the best possible defense against Iran’s ability to pursue a nuclear weapon covertly -- that is, in secret. International inspectors will have unprecedented access not only to Iranian nuclear facilities, but to the entire supply chain that supports Iran’s nuclear program -- from uranium   mills that provide the raw materials, to the centrifuge production and storage facilities that support the program. If Iran cheats, the world will know it. If we see something suspicious, we will inspect it. Iran’s past efforts to weaponize its program will be addressed. With this deal, Iran will face more inspections than any other country in the world.

The ongoing failure of Obama to deal with Iran was made evident in an article in the New York Times, (April 3, 2015), commenting on the negotiations and the agreements that came out of them:

But as the talks hit one deadline after another, the administration had to compromise more. Instead of maintaining strict limits throughout the life of a 15-year accord, for example, it began to talk about keeping the toughest limits — the ones that would extend to a year the time Iran needed to produce enough nuclear material for a bomb — in place for at least 10 years….

The growth of the Iranian nuclear project has been substantial since Obama has been in office, the article stated:

“Iran had a few hundred working centrifuges in 2003, thousands when Mr. Obama took over and 19,000 now.”

Israel’s Response:

Israel is extremely concerned with this agreement. This is why Netanyahu came to address the congress a few weeks prior to the Israeli election, much to the chagrin of Obama.

Netanyahu gave Israel’s response to Obama’s agreement. It is clear and reasonable:

Netanyahu responds to Obama's deal as a threat "to the very survival of the state of Israel"This deal would pose a grave danger to the region and to the world and would threaten the very survival of the state of Israel. The deal would not shut down a single nuclear facility in Iran, would not destroy a single centrifuge in Iran, and would not stop R&D on Iran’s advanced centrifuges. On the contrary, the deal would legitimize Iran’s illegal nuclear program, it would leave Iran with a vast nuclear infrastructure. The deal would lift sanctions almost immediately, and this the very  time when Iran is stepping up its aggression and terror in the region and beyond the region. In a few years the deal would remove the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, enabling Iran to have a massive enrichment capacity that it could use to produce many nuclear bombs within a matter of months. The deal would greatly bolster Iran’s economy. It would give Iran, thereby, tremendous means to propel its aggression and terrorism throughout the Middle East. Such a deal does not block Iran’s path to the bomb, such a deal paves Iran’s path to the bomb. And it might very well spark a nuclear arms race throughout the Middle East, and it might greatly increase the risks of terrible war. Now some say that the only alternative to this bad deal is war. That is not true. There is a third alternative. Standing firm, increasing the pressure on Iran, until a good deal is achieved.

And finally, let me say one more thing. Iran is a regime that openly calls for Israel’s destruction and openly and actively works toward that end. Just two days ago, in the midst of the negotiations in Losan, the commander of the besieged security forces in Iran said this: “The destruction of Israel is non-negotiable.” Well I want to make clear to all, the survival of Israel is non-negotiable. Israel will not accept an agreement which allows a company which vows to annihilate us to develop nuclear weapons… period. In addition, Israel demands that any final agreement with Iran will include a clear and unambiguous Iranian commitment of Israel’s right to exist.”

Masada - Symbol of Jewish Courage

Masada today is one of the Jewish people's greatest symbols. Israeli soldiers take an oath there: "Masada shall not fall again." Next to Jerusalem, it is the most popular destination of Jewish tourists visiting Israel. As a rabbi, I have even had occasion to conduct five Bar and Bat Mitzvah services there. It is strange that a place known only because 960 Jews committed suicide there in the first century C.E. should become a modern symbol of Jewish survival.

What is even stranger is that the Masada episode is not mentioned in the Talmud. Why did the rabbis choose to ignore the courageous stance and tragic fate of the last fighters in the Jewish rebellion against Rome?

After Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 70, the Great Revolt ended-except for the surviving Zealots, who fled Jerusalem to the fortress of Masada, near the Dead Sea. There, they held out for three years. Anyone who has climbed the famous "snake path" to Masada can understand why the surrounding Roman troops had to content themselves with a siege. Masada is situated on top of an enormous, isolated rock: Anyone climbing it to attack the fortress would be an easy target. Yet the Jews, encamped in the fortress, could never feel secure; every morning, they awoke to see the Roman Tenth Legion hard at work, constructing battering rams and other weapons. If the 960 defenders of Masada hoped that the Romans eventually would consider this last Jewish beachhead too insignificant to bother conquering, they were to be disappointed. The Romans were well aware that the Zealots at Masada were the group that had started the Great Revolt; in fact, the Zealots had been in revolt against the Romans since the year 6. More than anything else, the length and bitterness of their uprising probably account for Rome's unwillingness to let Masada and its small group of defiant Jews alone.

Once it became apparent that the Tenth Legion's battering rams and catapults would soon succeed in breaching Masada's walls, Elazar ben Yair, the Zealots’ leader, decided that all the Jewish defenders should commit suicide.

According to Josephus, two women and five children managed to hide themselves during the mass suicide, and it was from one of these women that he heard an account of Elazar ben Yair's final speech. Josephus probably added some rhetorical flourishes of his own, but Elazar’s speech clearly was a masterful oration: "Since we long ago resolved,

"Elazar began, "never to be servants to the Romans, nor to any other than to God Himself, Who alone is the true and just Lord of mankind, the time is now come that obliges us to make that resolution true in practice.... We were the very first that revolted [against Rome], and we are the last that fight against them; and I cannot but esteem it as a favor that God has granted us, that it is still in our power to die bravely, and in a state of freedom."

Even at this late juncture, Elazar could not accept that the main reason the revolt had failed was because Rome's army was vastly superior. Instead, he dwelt on his belief that the Lord had turned against the Jewish people.

But this was not to be the End of the Jewish People as God had said that He would regather Israel in the Last Days and so 2000 years later this was miraculously fulfilled.

Israel A Nation Reborn

About the time the writing of the Bible was completed, the Jews and their land had been separated. Just as the prophets of God had warned, they were scattered throughout the nations.

Paris terror attacks and the rise in European anti semitismRise in European Anti-Semitism

World events like this are to be expected because we are living in the "Latter Days".

What happened?

On Wednesday the 7th of January at around 11:30 in the morning, two masked gunmen forced their way into the offices of a French Newspaper, Charlie Hebdo. The men killed 12 people in cold blood and wounded 11 others. It was reported that whilst they were shooting they cried “Allahu Akbar” - “God is Great” in Arabic. They then fled.

The paper had apparently been targeted because it printed controversial cartoons of the islamic prophet Muhammad.

Witnesses reported that the gunmen identified themselves as belonging to Al’Qaeda.

Over the next few days a man hunt by the French police ensued and France raised its terror alert to the highest level. The two men were identified as two brothers - Saïd and Chérif Kouachi. The next day, the 9th of January,  the police almost caught the pair after they were spotted but they managed to get away on foot. They ended up in a standoff in a printing factory. This ended when the two terrorists eventually ran out and attacked the police that were surrounding them, the police responded by shooting them.

At the same time as the Kouachi brothers attack and attempted getaway was happening, one of their close friends, a man called Amedy Coulibaly also conducted various attacks on French citizens. Coulibaly is said to be responsible for three shootings which he apparently had synchronised with the attacks of the Kouachi brothers. He had pledged his allegiance to IS.

His first attack was a shooting of a man out jogging on Wednesday the 7th of January. On the 8th of January he shot and killed a police officer and also attacked a street sweeper. Finally on the 9th of January Coulibaly entered a supermarket, killed four people and took several hostages. The police surrounded the supermarket. It is reported that he was in communication with the Kouachi brothers who were, at that time, also in their standoff with the police at the print factory. He apparently told police that he would kill hostages if his friends were harmed. Police eventually stormed the grocery store and gunned down Coulibaly.

What many people do not realise is that the market place where this terrorist attack occurred was Kosher and he had specifically targeted it because it was Jewish. The fact that this secondary issue was an anti-Semitic attack was hardly mentioned in the headlines in the Western media. The four Jews who were killed were purchasing food before the sabbath on the 10th of January. The media and politicians have shown very little sympathy to the Jewish community in this regard, exposing a deep-rooted antagonism against Jewish people in Europe.

On Sunday the 11th of January 2015 millions of people met in Paris for a rally of national unity to honour the 17 victims. Across France nearly 3.7 million people joined demonstrations in what has been reported to be the largest public rally in France since World War II. The phrase "Je suis Charlie" (French for "I am Charlie") has become a common slogan against the attacks and a statement of support for free speech.

Also on the 11th of January The Wall Street Journey had a article entitled "Islamic State Releases Video Calling Grocery Store Gunman Its ‘Soldier’". Apparently in this video the IS spokesman speaks with pride about executing Jews.

On the 12th of January many Jewish schools were closed as the authorities were concerned of further anti-Semitic attacks being possible.

Christ is Coming SOON! Christ is Coming SOON!

The world we live in is a world of contrasts.

Many people of this world live a life of luxury and comfort. They seem to have all their needs met. They have a nice house with a good job and do not seem to have any problems that they cannot solve themselves.

On the other hand there are many people in this world who suffer greatly from the effects of poverty and over population. There are millions of people who struggle to find enough food to feed their families, there are millions of people who live in conditions that are breeding grounds for disease and pestilence. Under these conditions diseases such as leprosy run rampant and there is a great deal of suffering.

There are continual disagreements between nations. It seems as if there is always a war taking place and people are dying over unnecessary political agendas.

The problems of this world have been addressed by generations of politicians and charitable organisations yet the problems of this world continue to exist. In fact many different types of Governments have been tried: monarchy; democracy; republic; socialist. Yet man continues to struggle with the problems of this world. He has demonstrated quite successfully that he is unable to solve the problems that we see about us.

Many of the problems of this world are directly related to the selfishness of man. A man in power is happy to work with those that support him and who will help him become successful; generally this is at the expense of those who do not support him. Man is self serving.

Will there ever be a solution to these problems?

The answer is yes, but man cannot correct the problems of this world.

We must turn to the Bible to find the answers to the questions that we might ask.

The Bible tells us of the future, and it tells us what we can do to help make this world a better place to live.

The Bible assures us that man will continue to struggle from one crisis to another and that, left to his own, man will only make things much worse.

The Bible also assures us that if we place our confidence and trust in the God of the Bible, that we can live in a time of peace and security where we can truly enjoy the blessings of a life where the problems of this world will be solved.

The Bible also tells us that this will only happen once the Lord Jesus Christ returns to Earth.

In this article we wish to consider the Bible teaching about the return of the Lord Jesus Christ and discuss what he will do once he returns.

The Bible teaches us of many things that the Lord Jesus Christ will do when he returns to the earth.

1.    Jesus is going to set up a Kingdom

We’ve already looked at Acts 1:11. In this verse two angels stated that Jesus was to return to earth. Just prior to the ascension of Jesus to heaven the disciples had asked Jesus a question .

“Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him saying, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Acts 1:6

The disciples understood that Jesus was to set up a kingdom. Now that Jesus had been crucified and raised from the dead, the disciples thought that Jesus was now going to “restore the Kingdom to Israel.”

The disciples had very good reason for expecting Jesus to restore the Kingdom to Israel.

There is a consistent message in the Old Testament that a Kingdom will be set up on earth that will replace all the existing kingdoms of this world.

“And in those days the God of Heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” Daniel 2:44

It will be a kingdom that will have its throne in Jerusalem and this kingdom will affect all people on earth.

“At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem. No more shall they follow the dictates of the their evil hearts.” Jeremiah 3:17

The King of this kingdom will establish God’s ways as the correct way to live our lives.

Remember what we said in the introduction. “Many of the problems of this world are directly related to the selfishness of man. A man in power is happy to work with those that support him and who will help him become successful; generally this is at the expense of those who do not support him. Man is self serving. “However, in the Kingdom that will be set up on this earth men will no longer follow the dictates of their evil hearts.”

Another feature of the Kingdom is that everybody will be willing to learn of God’s ways.

The whole earth will want to go to Jerusalem to be taught of God’s ways.

“Many nations shall come and say, ‘Come let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; he will teach us of his ways, and we shall walk in his paths.’ For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” Micah 4:2

Jordan in Bible Prophecy

The latter-day role of Jordan is examined in the light of recent news stories

In February 2015 outrage was seen across the Middle East as the terrorist group ISIS burned alive a muslim Jordanian pilot. Israel were one of the nations to express sympathy. This week we examine what the Bible says about Jordan and its role in the latter days just before Christ returns to the earth.

Jordan step up airstrikes against ISIS

Jordan has been taking part in the US led coalition bombing raids against the extremist islamic group ISIS. On December 24th 2014, one of their F16s crashed over Syria near Raqqa. The planes pilate, Al-Kasasbeh, was captured by ISIS.
30 days later ISIS called for an Iraqi militant who had been sentenced to death in Jordan, to be released in exchange for Al-Kasabeh. Jordan refused.

Jordanian Pilot Al-Kasabeh

This week on the 3rd of February 2015 an ISIS video was released showing Al-Kasasbeh being burnt alive in a cage. He was 26 years old. The video has sparked outrage and disgust across the Middle East and anti-ISIS protests in Jordan.

In retaliation Jordan took revenge. The BBC reported:"Jordan has executed two convicts, including a female jihadist, following the killing of one of its air force pilots by Islamic State (IS) militants.”

The media also reported that Jordan has also stepped up its air strikes against ISIS. The Guardian for example ran an article entitled "Jordan carries out new air strikes after pilot’s murder” on Thursday the 5th of February.

Jordan & Israel to build stronger relationship

One of the interesting things to come out of these horrifying events is that of the  political situation between Israel and Jordan. CNN ran an article on Friday 6th of February entitled "Israel bolsters ties to Jordan as ISIS looms”. Here are a few snippets from this article:

"The crucial security relationship between Jordan and Israel is gaining new meaning after the brutal execution of a Jordanian pilot at the hands of ISIS.

In the aftermath of the killing, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu moved quickly to publicly bolster Israel's alliance with Jordan. In a phone call on Thursday, just a day after King Abdullah II returned to Jordan following a shortened trip to Washington, Netanyahu extended his condolences to Abdullah and expressed his anger over ISIS's "barbaric cruelty," the prime minister's office said in a statement.

The Jordanian pilot, Lt. Moath al-Kasasbeh, was burned alive by ISIS militants in a video shared online around the world.

The tragedy is a prime opportunity for Netanyahu to shore up a relationship that has undergone some strain in recent months over restricted Palestinian access to the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Jordan recalled its ambassador three months earlier over rising tensions in Jerusalem, but on Monday the ambassador was back in Tel Aviv, a sign that Jordan sees the importance of smoothing over its relationship with Israel… Now, Jordan could be looking to expand its role and it could lean on  its close intelligence relationship with Israel for support.

Israel has already flown drone sorties over the Jordanian-Syrian border to help Jordan thwart potential attacks from ISIS. But that and other intelligence assistance could be the extent of Israeli support, said Israeli officials who promise to be "as supportive as we can be" of the Jordanians.”

So Israel and Jordan look set to gain closer ties.
